Career Highlights
Mr. Boyd’s rich and diverse professional background covers over 30 years of corporate, technical, government, photojournalistic and freelance experiences. Magazines, newspapers, brochures and periodicals have printed both his photographic and written work.
After graduation from Germain photography school in New York City his work in conservation photography raised public awareness, received a standing ovation at a Nassau County hearing on land use and led to the preservation of Garvies Point on Long Island Sound. The point is now a museum and preserve on the North Shore of Nassau Co., Long Island, New York.
His portrait with fellow state of Texas photographer Hugh Pillsbury of the State Capitol in Austin was designated by the Texas Legislature as the official state portrait. It was enthusiastically hailed across the state as a new exciting vision of a much photographed and time worn subject. It also received a warm letter of praise from Governor John Connolly.
His photojournalism with the Battle Creek Enquirer garnered news awards and professional recognition for his dedicated work on the Michigan Scene.
While on staff at the Fairchild Division in Syosset, New York with Schlumberger International the world’s largest oilfield service corporation and global 500 company, he was the chosen photographer covering the highest level corporate events and functions which included top government and military leaders from Washington, DC.
At Clark Equipment a Fortune 100 company in Battle Creek, Michigan he was the technical and promotion photographer for the publication division. He improved a graphic camera process which was taught at the corporate level and improved the company’s printing ability.
The U.S. Department of the Interior at the suggestion of Lady Bird Johnson published Mr. Boyd’s work in their coverage of Vermont’s Long Trail/Appalachian Trail.
His work was published by the Detroit Free Press, Austin Statesman, Texas highways and a host of other publications. His photographs have gone world wide on National and International wire service and distributions from the state of Texas.
